I've seen the mounted twice problem before and a corrupted filesystem that needed to be reformatted, but never followed it up as my problems were beginning to look very much like hardware. Turned out I had a bad motherboard (IDE controller) and a bad CPU, both new.
I've had failed hard drives create the same symptoms. Rich
I would suggest booting and running knoppix/SuSE live CD for a while, if you can get hold of a CD, to see if anything complains running reiserfsck and copying directories from CD to HD. The suspect has to be hardware, the software in question doesn't behave that way, I have 9.1 x86 running on this repaired box, a P-II 333 laptop and 9.1 x86_64 running on a XP3000+ laptop, all running sweetly. Regards Sid.
