Can you try booting from a liveCD or a liveUSB and see if everything is fine ?
just to make you more confortable, re-installing the same OS with same version is not a big headache if / is in a different mounting point than /home :)

Hi Paulo,
I tried with the OS11.4 live-cd, which does not work. It boots but at a certain moment, it hangs. Only a text underscore. I tried with a Sustestudio USB-stick, text only, OS 11.3 which works fine. I tried with an Ubuntu 10.4 stick which works fine as far as I can tell, I didn't try everything. I tried to re-install, works fine, until it does it's final start. Then it hangs on a black screen with only a graphical cursor.
I'm going to try Kubuntu.
The strange thing is : it worked !
I ran successfully memtest for two full passes and the third about 80%, so memory isn't an issue.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Koenraad Lelong.
Again replying my to own post.
I tried Kubuntu 11.04. This has a similar problem : at a certain moment it hangs. I installed Ubuntu 10.4 which works fine, for what I tested at the moment.
Not sure, if this is your problem, but many people including myself had bootup problems with 11.4 until they disable parallel boot. Try setting RUN_PARALLEL="no" in /etc/sysconfig/boot Regards -- Mark Goldstein -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
