Hi Colin I used to use Demon when I lived in the UK, so I can tell you that it's not them timing you out! Are you just using pppd on its own, or are you calling it through something like wvdial? I use wvdial and used to have the same problems; changing /etc/ppp/options had no effect. I then found that there is a file, /etc/wvdial.conf, in which there was set a very short timeout. I bumped that up to a sensible figure, and now all is fine. Hope this helps. Matthew Smith Colin Murphy wrote:
Suse 7.1 on Demon.
In /etc/ppp/options I have 'idle' variable set to 6000, but the line has terminated after just 5 minutes of inactivity.
I edited /etc/ppp/options directly, is there some utility that I need to run to make this change take effect?
I've not had this problem before, I've just upgraded from Mandrake 7.1.
