Quoting Bob S <911@sanctum.com>:
Hello SuSE people,
Is there any advantage ro running rsnapshot over plain old rsync? I don't want to do regular timed backups with chron because my backup disk is usb and I only plug it in when I want to use it. (don't want it running all of the time.)
rsnapshot just runs rsync under the covers. The advantage is convenience. It manages the ladder of backups (7 dailies, 4 weeklies, 6 monthlies), and slices in a backup (7 in each of my backups). I backup to a USB disk largely every night. Works quite well. HTH, Jeffrey -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
