Does the printer/scanner HP PSC 2410 works with Suse 9.1 ? If yes, how can I get the driver and how to install it ?
Yes. I use the psc2410xi hung off my suse 9.1 server. I fought getting the print/scanner working together for almost a year. Using RedHat 9, Suse 9.0, and at first with Suse 9.1. Every reboot, I had to reinstall the printer and I couldn't get both scanning and printing working. I could have a scanner or a printer. The key for me turned out to quit using yast to set it up. I use cups. Make sure hpoj (suse calls it hp-officejet and comes with suse) is installed. It's the hp officejet all-in-one driver Run (as root with printer on and connected) ptal-init (part of hpoj) and answer the questions. That should locate the printer and set some stuff up needed for scanning and printing. Use the cups browser interface (localhost:631) to set up the printer. The important parts here are selecting PTAL as the device and HP > HP PSC 2400 as model/driver. Since doing it this way, I've been able to print, scan, use the stand alone copier and stand alone fax functions, print pictures direct from the built in card readers, and mount the built in card readers to copy pictures to my hard drive. And the set up now survives a reboot. Good luck! Doug
