There are some websites that use flash as an integral part of the design. Without flash you basically get a blank screen. No data.
Websites that use flash obviously do not want blind visitors - AFAIK there is no screen reader that translates flash to audio (or braille). OK, so why would these sites want me?
It's not that these sites want me, I want them. For example, many touristic sites (B&Bs, small hotels, restaurants) are flash only. I'm quite sure that they didn't choose that technology. Some small company came in, presented some shiny lively method to be "on the Web", and the owners purchased it. Prices are ridiculously small for such work, you won't get real designs that way. (This is a statement of fact, I often contract good communication designers.) How shall those owners know that it's bad technology that they choose? They are no technicians. Most of them don't even know to operate the Windows system properly. E.g., I have restaurants that send around their changing menus be email -- in Excel format... Those few restaurant owners that I talked about that couldn't even understand the problems. One of them asked me to change it and set up a new process. When she heard about our hourly consulting rates, she staid with the Excel solution... And if I'm planning a holiday or some trip, I want to know about the opportunities for eating, tasting wine, going out, and sleeping. And I won't let technical snobbiness get into the way of that information gathering.
