Anyone know if this is running anywhere with SuSE V7.2 / 7.3. Looks interesting and a good replacement for Outlook as it seems to do all that piece of !@#$% does but web based. I may be able to dump another program off their workstations and systems if it can. regards scsijon From their homepage: Welcome to yourwebtop.com! This is the home of the Webtop Personal Information Management System. The Webtop is a free web-based email system that you run on your own computer or server. It comes with an integrated webdrive, contact list, and web-based administration. The commerical version also includes a calendar, notepad and automated email reminder system. By running the Webtop on your own system, you get all of the freedom and accessibility of Hotmail or Yahoo mail but none of the disk space limitations or privacy and security concerns! Details: The Webtop is a web-based email system with numerous PIM functions built into it. There is an important distinction between the Webtop and a "regular" email client. Being a web-based email client, the Webtop acts as a information management server - it is always on, always running, and always managing your information whether your are logged in or not. Here are a few examples of why the Webtop has an advantage over traditional email clients: Automated reminders are one example of this advantage. You schedule a reminder to be sent to one or many email addresses at a specific date and time and, as long as the Webtop is up and running, it will be sent without any additional work. Receiving emails with large attachments is done in the background and does not affect, or slow down, your usage of the webtop. As soon as the entire email is downloaded, it will appear for you to view. If email filters are setup, they are process as soon as the Webtop receives the email - not just when you log in and received them. This has the added advantage of being able to easily create autoresponders when you are away. The Webtop was written in Java and, hence, can run on any system that has a JVM (which is basically all of them) Here is the complete feature list available broken out by service: EMAIL Create custom folders Create nested folders Send plain text and HTML emails Realtime email account status with "last error message" logged and displayed Able to select email addresses from your contacts list when composing a new message Attach multiple attachments from your local hard drive to an email Attach multiple attachments from your online webdrive to an email Save attachments directly to your webdrive Save emails you are composing as "draft" Set the priority level of the email you are sending Email messages are sent and received by the Webtop regardless of whether you are logged in Able to received and read HTML emails Able to read complicated MIME encoded emails Emails with multiple emails attached to it are unrolled for easy reading Automatically add email addresses from emails received to your contacts list Create an automated reminder from an email received Display and print an email as a PDF document View the original email "source" as received from the server Check multiple POP accounts at once Request "read receipts" from recipients who support that feature Create email "filters" to automatically process incoming and outgoing messages see a screenshot CALENDAR Full month calendar view with summary appointment text displayed Easily scroll through months and years Add multiple appointments per calendar date Automatically create an automated email reminder from an appointment Set up a reminder to be reminded before the appointment by a specified time period Display and print a full date of appointments as a PDF document see a screenshot NOTES Create custom and nested folders to store your notes in Share notes with other Webtop users (can be password-protected) Create an automated email reminder directly from a note Display and print a note as a PDF document All note folder views are sortable by their column headers see a screenshot WEBDRIVE Full "windows explorer"-like interface with nested folder creation Upload new files directly into folders Add new files to webdrive folders by "saving to the webdrive" directly from an email attachment P2P file sharing with other Webtop users from the webdrive (can be password-protected) see a screenshot REMINDERS Create new reminders to be sent to any email address at any specified date/time Reminders can be created directly from an email, note, or calendar appointment Reminders can be setup to be "one-time" reminders or "recurring" reminders.
