Hey Group;
I have commented earlier about the lack of SuSE9.3 and SuSE 10 not being able to detect a USB drive unless it was ON for a longer period of time. Lets say 1 hour.
Well to that end- I have tracked out the problem. It appears to be a drive problem with the HD bios.
Using " /sbin/getcfg -d . -f hwcfg- -- /dev/sda " a list of HWD config information is reported. Missing is "HWD_VENDORID=@h" which fails and seems to be the problem. When it works "HWD_VENDORID=WDC WD15".
" /sbin/getcfg -d . -f hwcfg- -- /dev/sda1 " offered no answer.
I have another drive which is also a WD drive but newer
By the way - " Rita " We got very little wind and .25 inches of rain. Thanks to all for the "Good Luck" wishes.
Don't know, possibly just with WD, on 9.3 (Card Reader-FAT16) and 9.3 x86_64 (Maxtor 120G) I'm not seeing any problems with getcfg, getcfg-device or getcfg-all-info, also I can move these drives around and have them available for mounting which I choose to do manually.
