Same problem but occurs only occasionally, experiencing vertical scroll bar flickering and with Konqueror nonresponsive. I've had this problem too in KDE 2.2.1 and now in 2.2.2. It seems to be related to the icon preview functions. As a workaround you could disable the icon preview.
