Hmm, I had the same problem. Is it really needed 64bit version? I retried it with 32 bit version again and everything worked. 2009/11/19 Claudio Prono <claudio.prono@atpss.net>:
Hello to all,
I am a new user of Virtual Box. In the past i have always used VmWare, today i have decided to try this product. I am trying a vmware machine running on Virtual PC, under a machine host as OpenSuSE 11.2 64bit.
For testing purpose i use a virtual machine like OpenSuSE 11.2 64bit, but it don't start. When try to start, gives me a message like this:
This Kernel requires an x86-CPU but only detected an i686 CPU.
But, the host machine is a 64bit, as u can see:
Linux lab-250 2.6.31.5-0.1-desktop #1 SMP PREEMPT 2009-10-26 15:49:03 +0100 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
And this are the packages i have installed:
virtualbox-ose-kmp-desktop-3.0.6_2.6.31.5_0.1-9.10.4.x86_64 xorg-x11-driver-virtualbox-ose-3.0.6-9.10.4.x86_64 virtualbox-ose-kmp-default-3.0.6_2.6.31.5_0.1-9.10.4.x86_64 virtualbox-ose-3.0.6-9.10.4.x86_64
And this is what i have in /var/log/messages:

Any hint of what is the problem?
Cheers,
Claudio.
