Hello,
I have a system that I just can not seem to get the video to work. After a fresh install any video mode gives me a grabled screen. Just like with all the ISO images after the first selection menu. Boot from Hard Disk, Installation or any option. It does not matter what I choose in the F3 Video.
I have found that I am able to use the 12.2 media and do an install or rescue system. What I do is boot off the CD or DVD and choose Hard Disk
I then let Rescue or install find the source in
/opensuse/distribution/12.3/repo/oss
When I do this I am able to use the screen all the way through till it reboots then the video is messed up.
With the rescue system, it boots off the HD and does an initialization which I am able to see. It does everything just like a normal system except it gives me the Login and I am able to login.
How do I get the system to be able to have a display like with the 12.2 media but everything shows a 12.3 install or boot for rescue just like on other systems.
Any ideas on what I may do to get a screen. Usually I am able to get a network going and work on the system remotely. I have been unable to get a display on the main console.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance,
Hi Boyd,
Could you be a little more specific? What hardware is involved? What 'flavor' of 12.3?
Actually all flavors. What the system is a Intel Server MB. X86_64 It is the onboard video. I have tried every ISO image. The all burned and verified. Not one does not have the video problem. I was able to do an install and resscue with the X86_64 DVD, Net Install X86_64, as well as all most all media. As long as the Media has the F4 source option and I am able to choose Hard Disk and put in the 12.3 repo I am able to install or use the rescue system. The problem is on first boot after a fresh install. After that is does not matter the video is messed up. -- Boyd Gerber <gerberb@zenez.com> 801 849-0213 ZENEZ 1042 East Fort Union #135, Midvale Utah 84047 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
