These were installed as dependencies on the initial yast installation, except I can't find a package specifically named startup-notification. I found two libstartup packages previously installed, and this evening I installed startup-notification-devel. But awesome still won't launch.
you don't need startup-notification-devel. You should have libstartup-notification from my repo. Normally packages from my repo would have *TM* ending in their rpm numbering i.e libstartup-notification-1-0-0.12-22.4.TM.i586 Without seeing the .xsession-errors it is difficult to see why it does not start.
