I'm the manager of a small IT firm with a focus on Linux and Open Source software. On my servers I'm running a mix of various RHEL clones like CentOS, Oracle Linux and Rocky Linux. On the desktop side, I've been using OpenSUSE Leap with KDE since version 15.0.
You can look up my credentials/profile here, _if_ you can be bothered: https://en.opensuse.org/User:pjessen
And I just learned that SUSE will phase out Leap after the 15.5 release.
Where did you learn that from?
So here's a few thoughts I want to share with the distribution maintainers.
I suspect most of the maintainers are best reached on the factory list.
Number One Fight Club rule: YOU DO NOT USE ROLLING RELEASES IN A PRODUCTION ENVIRONMENT. Yes, I shouted that out loud.
+1. SUSE's customers would also agree with you.
4. Yes, I have Tumbleweed running on a spare sandbox PC. Yes, it works nicely. No, I will never (ever) use it in production.
Ditto, all of those. I have occasionally played with the idea of putting TW on my main office desktop, but I need that to be in working order for 10-12 hours a day.
5. Stop reinventing the wheel please. You young punks remind me of myself when I was three years old and tried to "repair" my parent's perfectly functional alarm clock.
There are lots of reasons why that won't work. To attract "young talent" any organisation or business has to keep re-inventing something.
