I got VMware 2.0.3 running under SuSE stock kernel 2.4.2-4GB. For some reason vmware configuration script didn't like the version of the kernel, I had to tweak /usr/src/linux/include/linux/version.h file. I've put 2.4.2-4GB there. I know, this is a quick hack, not the proper solution, but it worked. -Kastus On Wed, Mar 28, 2001 at 12:15:34PM +0000, Guy Van Sanden wrote:

Hi, I have just upgraded to 7.1. The problem I have is that the kernel I
It complains that the c library headers don't exist for the kernel I'm running. When I go to /usr/src the linux link points to 2.4.0-SuSE and
appear to be running is 2.4.0-GB . The problem is that I'm trying to reconfigure my copy of vmware. there is basically mothing in the 2.4.0-GB directory. Does anyone know whats going on, as the modules are also for 2.4.0-GB.
I'd like to be able to configure wvware, but can't figure how at this stage.
The sources are not installed by default. Look for lx_sus24 for the 2.4 sources. Could be in series "d" (development). The current /usr/src/linux/* stuff is probably from lx_include, which is include files only. But then, that should be sufficient? Maybe vmware doesn't work with 2.4? No idea, really... I'm about to install it myself, but with 2.2.18, for my tax software ;-)
