fetchnews not running from ip-up

Hi Guys, I think I have a permissions problem somewhere as I can't run fetchnews from ip-up. I fire up ktop to see whats happening and i see fetchnews being started but it shuts down before getting anything. If I open a terminal and su then run fetchnews then it gets the news ok. How do I check to see if I am in the group 'news'? as I think perhaps that may be why it wont run properly unless run from root. Cheers, Glenn
