I'm running 8.1 on a Sony Vaio. After booting, the system doesn't recognize my CDrom, or perhaps I don't know what to call it...
However, doing a cdrecord -scanbus, I get the following:
cdrecord -scanbus Cdrecord 1.11a28 (i686-suse-linux) Copyright (C) 1995-2002 Jvrg Schilling Linux sg driver version: 3.2.0 Using libscg version 'schily-0.6' scsibus0: 0,0,0 0) 'Sony ' 'MSC-U01N ' '1.00' Removable Disk
scsibus2: 2,0,0 200) 'Y-E DATA' 'USB-FDU ' '3.12' Removable Disk
So, it would appear that the system sees it and the floppy. I can get to the floppy (/dev/sdb). How do I get my CD to work? Is there something I can do to find out what /dev entry it has or should have?
Look for /dev/sr0 or /dev/sr1 for reading. If you are trying to record with cdrecord use "dev=0,0,0" -- use Perl; #powerful programmable prestidigitation
