Guys,
This is just looking for a generic difference. What does the desktop kernel provide that the default or pae doesn't or vice versa?
In a nutshell: kernel-default runs on some older hardware that kernel-desktop does not support anymore. kernel-desktop has a few settings changed so that it performs better on a desktop system. The list of modules - and therefore the hardware support - should be the same with the noted exception that some old cpus will only work with kernel- default, Andreas -- Andreas Jaeger, Program Manager openSUSE, aj@{novell.com,opensuse.org} Twitter: jaegerandi | Identica: jaegerandi SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, GF: Markus Rex, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg) Maxfeldstr. 5, 90409 Nürnberg, Germany GPG fingerprint = 93A3 365E CE47 B889 DF7F FED1 389A 563C C272 A126
