Personally, if the process is so easy, I would prefer that they drop in the source tree, make the changes and compile it. THEN, release it. Since the 2.2 kernel is already out, and the process is so easy, how much longer would it take? Three or four hours, tops?
If that's all they do, I'll wait for all you guys to do the software testing and I'll wait for 6.1.
Why make everyone else do that step? Who knows how many newbies and near-newbies mess it up, then generate a lot of complaints about SuSE, which I find to be an excellent example of German engineering.
I'm betting if 6.0 ships in January, it'll be sans the 2.2 kernel. If it comes with 2.2, I hope they delay (I know - it's a MS phrase) shipment until testing is complete. Better to ship a product that works than get the bad press, IMHO.
My $0.02 Jerry, "I can wait a little longer" Kreps :-)
I'll see your $0.02 and raise you $0.02.
