I would try doing it both ways to see if it helps.
Also is there anything in the message or error logs or dmesg or ctrl+alt +f10. That might indicate what the problem or help point you in a direction.

Thanks for the reply.
1. I use yast. After your reading the message I created another one using CLI and the same.
2. dmesg did not gave me a clue of the problem. I long /var/log/Xorg.0.log that I have to digest more ;-)
This is weird. It happened also in my desktop but I there I just restore the system from backup. There are many users with the same problem. I am sure is something simple but I can not find it.
