I use keyboard text selection shortcuts regularly, but just to check I tried using the touchpad on this laptop and there it seems the highlighted text NEVER sticks, not even for the fraction of a second like it does when selecting with keys.
Hello Peter. I seem to have solved my problem but after about a hundred or so rapid/consecutive try-this-no-now-try-that it all became a blur and now I don't remember exactly what exactly I did that fixed it. ;-) If you're running parcellite as your clipboard manager, try going into "Preferences" (right click the parcellite tray icon) and on the "Behavior" tab select the first 2 options under "Clipboards", then unselect "Synchronize..", then make sure everything on the "Auto Paste" line under "History" is unselected, then unselect the "Trim Whitespace" and "Trim Newlines" boxes under "Miscellaneous". See if that does it. Note that very early on in the fix-it attempt I also installed a newer parcellite version (1.1.9) which didn't seem to help anything but that's what I have installed here at the moment FWIW.
