We have used SuSE with great plessure for many years now (I think we started with version 5.0), but I now see us in a situation where we have to look around for other alternatives, just so if the smaller SuSE solutions lose momentum we can jump ship. I'l hate to do it, but if Novell don't find a way to solve this problem with conflicting interests, we have to do it.
This is the reality, I'm afraid. I want to keep using SuSE, but I don't want to pay more than I do now (at least not much more) for that pleasure. I'm looking at my options, personally. I need stability and this isn't stability unless the CEO of Novell comes out tomorrow and guarantees that the $79 Pro distro isn't going away.

Well I asked Novell: "Hello Matt, Thank you for your comments on the future of SuSE and KDE. I have forwarded them to the SuSE group for future consideration. Good day, Might want to pass this on...Will SuSE still continue on with the popular professional version? The one that goes for $79? Don't kill that line! I think time will tell that Redhat's greatest mistake was to kill their original line and only have community supported Fedora going for them. Please keep the lower end of SuSE (non enterprise going) and keep supporting KDE just as SuSE has done! Its important to make some announcement about the future of SuSE as the mailing lists are alive with talk. Many thanks, Matt Long time SuSE user and also Ximian user, using Linux on the desktop for the past 4 years." I think its four years, probably more (first use was about 5.0...). Getting old, leave me alone <vbg>. Who are the SuSE group? I noticed that thus far Novell has left Ximian with Nat and Miguel still seemingly intact... Just hoping SuSE do not follow RedHat's "lead" in releasing a Fedora type effort, or maybe not make any more effort at all with regards to SuSE users who purchase the Professional/Personal editions. What was the address for the Off Topic posts, before I go off in that direction. Matt
