I am attempting to compile my first kernel here. I am trying to create a symbolic link to the new directory. I am currently in the /usr/src directory logged on as root and when I type:
ln -s linux linux-2.2.13
I end up getting the symbolic link of linux but it appears to be pointing to linux, and not linux-2.2.13. Whats more, it drops this link into the linux-2.2.13 directory and not into /usr/src, which is where I am currently located.
I checked all the permissions and such on the folders I am dealing with (because I didn't know where else to start), and permissions on the linux-2.2.13 look just like the permissions on linux-2.2.10 (which was the kernel installed off the 6.2 cd-rom).
What am I doing wrong here?
Thanks for any help!
do it the other way round.
ln -s linux-2.2.13 linux
(=link (symbolic) FROM linux-2.2.13 TO linux)
In other words, the syntax of the link command is: ln -s source -> target or ln -s real-name -> link-name -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/Support/Doku/FAQ/
