ok, my 9.2 CD's just came in the mail !!!!!!!!!!!!! and Amazon said Nov 15th was the ship date, they lied!!
ok, when I installed 9.1 I just made a root and swap partition. I'd like to make a separate /home partition. I don't want to lose my current /home/users setup, so what's the best/easiest way to add a new /home partition?? shouldI add it first before I upgrade? or copy ( backup?) the /home directory to another partition, and add it during the uprade?????
No upgrade, not even the very awful 9.2 has ever touched any of my /root or /home directories on SuSE or Mandrake, though I still do backups ahead of upgrading. I either tar/bzip2 them or cp -dpR them to another disk or directory. As for the 9.2 upgrade, after a few hours of trying various ideas, I got the x86_64 upgrade done on my laptop. The 32-bit install on this box was another level of difficulty, see my posts on the list today, eventually I had to do a new install without formatting the partitions. 9.0 to 9.1 was a breeze.
