tabana- i guess i wasn't clear. i need to burn a bootable cd-rom. my cd-rw is a toshiba scsi. i use it for audio and iso file systems. the toaster is an abit m-board/athlon. my hard drive is not bootable due to a utility company's stepdown transformer that exploded during a severe wind storm here in n. california. i can read and write to all partitions but i cannot boot. thus i would like to be able to boot from a cd while i attempt to back-up and possibly repair the hard drive. oh yes, the floppy is also dead in the h2o. i've been thru various docs including man mkisofs. but as is often true with linux docs, i end up with as many questions as answers. thanks- larry tabanna wrote:
Hi :)
~ no sweat . . . hit DEL when you start 'puter . . . enter BIOS and set boot_sequence to boot first from CDrom
.. . . save, and exit
That's all :)
best wishes
