Hi everyone.
I have to ask again, sorry. My machine hangs when I move a window or using menus (freezes). This happens only in Tkdesk (editor), Netscape and Emacs (in X). This started after "upgrading" to 6.2 from 6.1.
How do I find out whats the problem ??
Tkdesk use Tk, right ?? And Netscape and Emacs use motif ??
I have upgraded all packages rekomended by SuSE, inkluding XFree86 3.3.5 and the new mach64 package.
I've had the same hardware for years and I had no problems like this before. I use Pentium 200, 64Mb EDO, 8.5 Gb, 120Mb swap, ATI mach64, SuSE 6.2, Kernel 2.2.10. It doesn't have to work very hard anyway... But i've tried different configurations anyway, but the problem remains.
Could it be a hardware problem ?? It "feels" like it could be the ATI board, but why only with those programs ?? I want to be sure before I invest in new hardware.
Could somebody give me advice on how to go on and "debug" my system ??
I have an ATI mach 64 board (all in wonder I think). It works just fine. I screwed up trying to do the upgrade and wound up clean installing. Maybe that's the difference. I also have a P233mmx and 32 megs EDO/64megs SDRAM. Hope this helps.
