I just purchased SuSE Linux 6.2. I plan to install this on my home PC. I have three IDE HD (Win98 w/FAT32) and a external SCSI Orb (scsi ID #4) running on a Adaptec AHA-1505. Every time I try to install SuSE while including the AHA-150x module, the install stops, locks up or fails. I am REAL suspicious that it is the Orb that is causing this. I have searched the SuSE knowledge base and tried everything I could find in the DB and it still fails. The last attempt includes starting the install from DOS using the Startup.exe program. Then using loadlin with scsi07. I entered "aha152x=0x140,9,7,0,1" as an additional parameter. I got the address, IRQ and parity settings from the Adaptec DOS drivers at startup. I selected "Start Installation" and then the kernel loads and then I get the following error and the system locks up: SCSI disk error: host 0 channel 0 id 4 lun 0 return code = 26030000 scsidisk I/O error: dev 08:00, sector 0 unable to read partition table {I clipped about 6 misc lines here} VFS:Mounted root (umsdos filesystem) readonly Freeing unused Kernel memory: 44k freed Warning: unable to open an initial console Kernel panic: No init found. Try passing init= option to Kernel How do I send the init option on a system that doesn't have Linux on it yet? At startup? Why doesn't it see the partition table? Anyone tried this as of yet? Do you have it working? Any help at this point would be great.
