Dear List,
Has aynone succeeded in running windows programs using wine and a 64-bit system.
I use Steam and can play Counter Strike:Source with graphics acceleration and also Adobe Photoshop CS2 installs just fine... under openSUSE 11.0 x86_64. All of this worked with installing WINE from the openSUSE repository, I did not have to make any configuration changes.
.. is it even possible?
32-bit Windows programs also run under 64-bit Windows just fine (the only issue there is hardware drivers, mainly).
Thanks!
Ok, so in principle, there should be no problem.. ..but:
I am trying to install internet exploder 6 (sp1). I did the following.. (1) run winecfg (2) run wine-doors .. it was complaining about some "autohotkey" thing (not important, I suppose) (3) Downloaded the ie6 from m$ download center and installed it with "wine ie6setup.exe".. wine told me that a newer version of ie was already installed, so I had to run "wine ie6setup.exe /q" (4) At 93% of installing, wine says in the terminal: ------- wine: Critical section 7bc95564 wait failed at address 0x7bc3b490 (thread 001f), starting debugger... err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000194 flags 0 addr 0x7bc3b490 ----- (5) I try to run ie using wine .wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Internet\ Explorer/iexplore.exe but just get a blank window..
Anyone succeeded in installing ie6 at 64-bit suse 11.0 ?
Cheers,
Sampsa
