Let me correct you.
The only "official" rpm updates that can be obtained is by using YOU. RPM's downloaded via APT are not "officially" supported by SuSE as they are not directly under their control. Use of any other packages are at your own risk.
apt downloads and installs exactly the same rpms as YOU, they come from the same origin. Just check the pkg key e.g., it's just suse's. The pkgs are only stored in a different directory structure, to fullfill apt's repository layout. However, apt gives the possibility to reach other rpm repositories (usr-local-bin, packman, etc) via the same interface. The apt components that make the same repository that YOU uses are: base, update and kde. -- Richard Bos Without a home the journey is endless
