Since installing 12.3, everytime i logon, device manager pops up and presents me with a 0B removable media (has floppy disk icon) and 3 options on how to deal with it. I don't actually have a floppy disk drive but i think there is a socket on the motherboard for one if i decided to regress....
Its not a problem but its a little annoying - does anyone have any ideas how to stop it happening?
Probably deactivating floppy support in the BIOS would work.
It did, thanks.
There is apparently some change either in kernel or in how kernel modules are loaded in 12.3. Users also suddenly started to report that YaST2 bootloader hangs in 12.3 on a system where 12.2 worked. Deactivating floppy controller fixed it as well.
When i installed 12.3 the "probing file systems" bit took about 15/20 minutes to get through. I thought it was something to do with the SSD i have as the first disk, maybe it was the Floppy Disk causing the problems. I'll boot the 12.3 ISO again and see if it gets quicker now the floppy is disabled
Personally I think it warrants bug report to investigate what's going on. But this requires matching hardware *and* both 12.2 and 12.3 on it to be able to compare ... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
