Hello!
I have an Adaptec Utra160 SCSI card and I wonder if the following problem is solved with the SuSE version of the kernel.

To summarize the issue, when using this kernel, the system totally hangs when loading both new or old version of the aic7xxx module. This forces you to use the manual install on an IDE drive. The only solution found by then to access the SCSI drives was to compile my own kernel.
I wonder if this has been somehow solved since October of last year and if the 8.2 version doesn't have that issue anymore.
(full version of the past of this thread available at http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2003-Apr/1942.html) I made a very simple test. I took 8.1 live eval and it frooze at the exact expected point. I then took 8.2 live eval and it worked perfectly with absolutely no boot parameter. This means that this issue has been fixed with release 8.2 for me. Thanks to the ones who tried to help me! Patrick
