I don't think it's a matter of people wanting proprietary modules, but rather if an OSS driver is not available, they will accept a proprietary one so they can use their hardware.
I don't think your comment is strongly enough expressed for most of us. It's not a matter of wanting proprietary modules, but of wanting something that works. I'd prefer OSS, but I want proprietary, if I can't have OSS.
