When I attempted to do this, this is what I got...(it appears that I have some dependancy issue, but I have no idea what I need to install to resolve them). Can someone please take a look at the following and let me know what I need to do to get Gnome2 installed on my SuSE 8 system.
You didn't download all the packages from the 'base' directory - just at a glance I can see you're missing gtk2, pango and orbit2, probably more! (Also, you didn't mention you were wanting GNOME2 - bear in mind that if you want to run applications like Galeon and Evolution, there are not GNOME2 ports of these applications yet, so you will also need an up-to-date GNOME 1.4 installation for them to work) -- James Ogley, Unix Systems Administrator, Pinnacle Insurance Plc james.ogley@pinnacle.co.uk www.pinnacle.co.uk +44 (0) 20 8731 3619 Using Free Software since 1994, running GNU/Linux (SuSE 8.0) Updated GNOME RPMs for SuSE Linux: www.usr-local-bin.org ********************************************************************** CONFIDENTIALITY.This e-mail and any attachments are confidential and may also be privileged.
