Hi all,
I was poking around my linux system and found this at the top of boot.msg in /var/log
Inspecting /boot/System.map Symbol table has incorrect version number
It doesn't seem to be harming the system just wondering what the hell it is!
New kernel compiled and installed ? If you have more kernels with different version numbers, rename System.map to System.map-2.2.5 or whatever your old kernel version was and copy the System.map from /usr/src/linux to /boot/System.map-2.2.9 or whatever your new kernel version is.
