Running Tumbleweed 64-bit. Hope someone can help me with the required codec rpm.
There isn't one. VLC comes with most codecs that are supported. You can try to install vlc-codec-gstreamer from https://software.opensuse.org/package/vlc-codec-gstreamer plus all the codecs that gstreamer supports. That might help but ffmpeg already comes with the most common codecs. Some Windows codecs aren't supported on Linux. Sometimes, the video is corrupt in some way and vlc can't play it. You can try "mpv", the successor of MPlayer. It can sometimes play things that vlc rejects and vice versa. Lastly, try to install the versions from the Packman repo (https://en.opensuse.org/Additional_package_repositories#Packman). These versions are a bit newer than the standard ones. If everything fails, get in touch with the VLC or ffmpeg devs, they are always interested in videos that don't play. Regards, -- Aaron "Optimizer" Digulla a.k.a.
