Hello,
I just did a 'zypper update' and now apparently all my links to my java stuff are broken, specifically all the java links in '/etc/alternatives/java*'... ...

Run /usr/sbin/update-alternatives as root.

Is it really necessary to run this command for each broken link in /etc/alternatives? And the invocation must supply the targe? At the moment, there are 52 broken symlinks in /etc/alternatives on my 10.3 system.
...
The upshot:
Run update-alternatives twice, once with --config --java and once with --config --javac. That should be enough, you do not need to worry about running it for each broken link.
