Those LEDs only indicate the phyical conneciton is made and the NIC sees proper Ethernet signalling on the line. They have nothing to do with any software.
Exactly. All I want is for them to light when I attach a cable that is physically connected to the network. This seems unreliable.
That's surely a hardware issue then?
I have eliminated cables. Not sure how to figure out why only one of the NIC on the MB light up as expected.
