Forgot to mention. It's an LG W2353G, which of course is not listed in SAX2.
I'm trying to change my monitor from a VGA LCD monitor to an HD 1080p one. I have an NVidea GeForce 7300 GS video card. When I try to enable the HD monitor, using the NVidea utility, I get an error message that it cannot save the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.backup. It makes no difference whether or not I tell it to merge with the existing file. Any way around this? Until then, I can't enable this monitor, which is recongnized by the NVidea configuration utility.
Are you using the NVidea utility as<user> or root, writing to /etc/X11/xorg.conf or the directory /etc/X11/ requires root privileges?
run the utility as root: kdesu -c<utility>
As I mentioned in another note, I forgot to run as root.
One thing I've noticed is the display seems snappier than before. Does DVI result in a performance improvement over VGA? I'd have thought with the extra resolution, performance might have taken a hit.
DVI does improve performance/resolution - but it is marginal in many cases. BC -- I work to live not live to work. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
