I wish to add a story. Two weeks ago a friend of mine who is using 7.0 as well
phoned me and he told me that he got an ISDN adapter like mine, but he
couldn't make 7.0 recognize it. He asked me would I test it on my machine
before complaining to his vendor. I accepted, and we tried, and it worked.
Then of course he asked me a lot of question about my hardware history, and
I came to thinking about some instances of the CMOS having locked up.
The symptoms are inability to alocate irq's etc, depite PNP features.
When I ran a dual boot setup with Windoze as the other OS, the BIOS simply
locked up now and then, leaving no alternative than to clearing it. Usually
you'll find a pair of pins on the motherboard for that purpose. If not,
switch off the power at the wall switch and remove the battery and insert a
coin instead. Switch on the power and start the machine. Press DEL to enter
the Bios menu. If the date has been reset to 'factory standard', you are done.
Insert the battery again and adjust the parameters.
He followed the advice and made a clean install witout any problems with his
hardware. - And, of course, the AsusCOM P-IN100-ST-D worked perfectly!
If you you are running WindBlows on the same machine, as Linux, it might be
an idea to consider if it is that worth.
Cheers,
