Actually, on Win95, IE4 used to be much faster than NS. I think this is because IE4 probably grabs more direct system resources instead of going through some odd Win calls that NS uses, and besides, it wouldn't be beyond MS to deliberately slow down NS. Anyway, the point I was leading up to: I have installed NS4.04 from the SuSE 5.2 and now I have downloaded and installed NS4.5b1, and I found them to be much faster on Linux than on Win95. Yes, on the same hardware, too.... Don't ask me, but it is noticeable.
