I have a had a couple cases when messing around with the config for apache that I add something, stop and start apache and I get a segmentation violation. I then I remove my added lines and stop and start apache and STILL get the seg vio. I then reboot the whole server and it comes up just fine. Sorry no real details or solutions, but it may be worth a reboot if you are able. Does Apache load any modules into memory that would stay there if the core Apache was stopped?
I have already rebooted several times, I have copied from another machine the config file and the same. The funny thing is that it worked till 5 pm and than it did not work anymore !!! I know it is also no good hint what could have been happened. I tried even to figure out if in the menioned line is something bad, but could not figure out anything of that! If I have no other hint anymore, than I re-install the apache !!!
Have you tried disabling all of the modules in /etc/rc.config.d/apache.rc.config? I had the same problem (only on one box, though, weird) and I disabled everything except PHP4 and now all works fine. -- James Oakley Engineering - SolutionInc Ltd. joakley@solutioninc.com http://www.solutioninc.com
