I started getting this out of the blue with 8.2 as well. It only seems to occur with init.d scripts or WebAdmin. The only way I could get it to work was to run "rcapache start" as root from the command line. Oddly enough, the problem went away when I upgraded to 9.0. Regards, Steve

Sorry for posting this again... I am hoping someone who didn't see it last night can help me with it today...
My server is located in San Diego CA. We had to yank the server from the building it was in because of the threat of fire... The fire was one street over!! Fortunatlely the SDFD was able to ward off the flames and the building was saved.. After plugging our server back in and trying to start apache ... I am receiving the following error:
Starting httpd [ Mailman PHP4 ]stty: standard input: Inappropriate ioctl for device ..failed
I don't understand... nothing has changed! I have never received this error before?? Note: I have not logged in from the machine itself... only through webmin... sendmail works, qpopper works...
Any ideas? Paul
