Back in March I had mentioned that I was fishing for recommendations on printers for my mother, who owned an Epson r300 photo. http://lists.suse.com/archive/suse-linux-e/2006-Mar/0501.html Well, I took her to Fry's yesterday and picked up an HP Photosmart 8050. http://www.shopping.hp.com/webapp/shopping/store_access.do?template_type=product_detail&product_code=Q6351A%23ABA&aoid=32861&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN http://tinyurl.com/jgsof It was around $150, I think. The HP rep was there and told me the features would work under SUSE. Sure enough, I went to her place, swapped out the Epson and popped in the HP. Her 9.2 system recognized it and prompted me to load the drivers. Within a few minutes, I was printing without a problem. Now, this model does use the HPLIP drivers (per the sales rep) located here: http://hplip.sourceforge.net/ Unfortunately, they only have RPMs for 9.3+ and she's using 9.2 right now. I tried compiling but the Python version has got issues. This is okay, as I plan to upgrade her system to 10.1 in the very near future. Anyway, thanks! -- kai ponte www.perfectreign.com || www.livebeans.com linux - genuine windows replacement part
