That is strange. I have export MOZILLA_HOME=/opt/netscape in my /etc/profile. I have never, ever had a problem. Java works fine in netscape. I don't know if perhaps there is a package you need installed (I thought netscape's java handling was independent of any other lib). Perhaps Bodo or someone more qualified can offer input. I have heard of people having problems with 4.05, but 4.03 and 4.04 have been ideal citizens on my box. Michael Galloway wrote:
indeed, i went a grabbed a copy of navigator 4.04, same problem. it gets stranger yet. we were going to use the laptop for a demo, so i figured i'd just run netscape on a remote workstation and display to the linux box: same problem - crash when i hits java.

Thus Spake Michael Lankton (satan@nfinity.com):
It says in the documentation for 4.05 that it is buggy. Stick with 4.04 until they fix it.
