did you try "rebuilding your help data base" ???
After downloading new "help" rpms I often rebuild mine, even though I have the box: "automatically rebuild databases" checked
No, I don't think I've attempted to rebuild my help database. How would I do this? For that matter, where is the box "automatically rebuild databases"?
(text deleted) Answer: Go to "KDE/SuSE-control center" ( it's on "KDE-kicker" (gear) menu ) open (SuSE) "Control Center"; find "Help", click on it, and then click on "SuSE" A new screen should open, follow the instruction (i.e. enter "administrator (root) password", etc) after the bottom it should show a dialog box: "re-build data bases," do it and you SuSE help data base should get re-built (mine shows 19 American flags - in 4 general categories)
Are you running KDE desktop, and if so, do you have a "red and white life preserver" on your bottom "task bar" ?
Yes and yes. What happens when I click on it is as I described before. I get a list of links; some, such as that for Bash, are linked to actual help; others, such as that for "Application Manuals | KDE", go owhere....
That tells me your "help data base" is not complete. So re-build it as stated above.
Do you also have a KDE help icon ??? (test delted)
I did a little more research -- KDE's help is also a "life presever- that's why I changed mine to a "penguin" --- so they looked different. IIRC, KDE's help gets installed as part of "KDEbase3" and then installed when SuSE Help is rebuilt. Hope this helps.
