I just installed SuSE 7.1 on my PC with a Lucent winmodem. When I try to install ltmodem, the module builds OK, but will not install the module giving the following error:
linux:~/ltmodem-5.78e # modprobe ltmodem /lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/ltmodem.o: kernel-module version mismatch /lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/ltmodem.o was compiled for kernel version 2.4.0 while this kernel is version 2.4.0-4GB. /lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/ltmodem.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/ltmodem.o failed /lib/modules/2.4.0-4GB/kernel/drivers/char/ltmodem.o: insmod ltmodem failed
It appears that the "-4GB" part of the keneral version is not taken into account. Has anyone seen this before or even better gotten around this problem. Note: the modem and ltmodem worked fine under SuSE6.3.
Thanks, Steve
