Any ideas about how to get this to work?
Some people are reporting that they need to select the new name for the session from the KDM session menu. Try selecting the "KDE Plasma Workspace" session, the previous name was "kde4".
I at least had an alert/warning about this, but when it slipped my mind on boot I couldn't login until I selected the aforementioned session name.
Hi, that fixed the problem that I was having and allowed the computer to boot to desktop.
I am having my friend's wife do the mechanics of login for me, as I am home at the moment. I plan on going over to their place again this evening to finish installing programs and updating the installation.
Do you know what the name of the configuration file for the desktop selection would be so that I may make this default?
Thanks
I'm not sure where this is saved/stored, however KDM behaviour is to pick the previous session on login; so now that the correct "new" name for the KDE4 session has been selected, until manually changed it will be selected again. And if manually changed via the selection menu, it would be a valid session name for say gnome or xfce anyway.
