So I have to install 15.5 in another partition for testing.
No, you only need to test the kernel.
As Stephan said yesterday (confirmed btw) the module in the 5.14.21 kernel does not contain the right aliases. They are only for module auto loading though, so I expect you can manually load the module, that ought to work.
Takashi Iwai got confused and thought I had the atheros chip, not the Mediatek. Less than an hour later he said so, thus the panorama changed within the hour I was reading and posting here.
My current plan is to install 15.5 fresh in a new partition (I left space on the disk for that purpose) and test both hibernation and WiFi, then report with new bugs.
Yes, updating kernel alone would be enough, but I think better test the whole stack and report other possible bugs.
Takashi Iwai has been very nice and created a backported kernel for 15.5 in his home repo. Me, I installed 15.5 in a new partition (I had left space for this in advance), tested it, and worked fine. :-DDD 15.5 looks nice. What is the timetable for it? -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
