dhcpd - IP-change script

Hello everyone I've got a question. I'm running dhcp-daemon, which invokes a script everytime my IP changes (to update my DNS entry). Now, I was wondering, when booting, does the daemon wait for the script to finish? If I have something like this while (update_failed { sleep 300 update DNS } Would my system pause booting until the update finishes? Thanks ! Guy
