If you are using XFree 4.02 of suse there is a nice script which downloads the ttf files from necesary places and makes them usable for the X server. If not using Xfree4.02 if you are using Xfree 4.01 then for modules either load freetype or xtt if using Xfree 3.3.6 use the xfstt application which comes on the suse CD
