As far as I know, it is not possible to install a 3Dfx Voodoo Banshee video card on SuSE 6.0. Correct ?
Wrong. Just get the RPM from our ftp-Server: <A HREF="ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse_update/X/XFCom/xbanshee/glibc2/xbanshee.rpm</A">ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse_update/X/XFCom/xbanshee/glibc2/xbanshee.rpm</A>
However, is it possible to install this video card with *reduced* features, like a standard SVGA or something, and be able to use KDE anyway ? If yes, what should I do, knowing that my card (Dragon 4000, from Gainward) is not listed in SaX.
Thanks for your answer, I'm getting very confused with those matters.
Using this RPM, you need to "fool" sax or xf86config. If you are using sax, use "generic server selection" and select SVGA. Make sure, that you create the following symbolic link first: ln -sf /usr/X11R6/bin/XFCom_Banshee /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_SVGA You should now be able to configure the card as usual. However, the server is not accelerated yet! Also read /usr/doc/packages/xbanshee/README for further info.
